Shamrock Pins
Make Saint Patrick's Day Pins - St. Patrick's Day is coming up and I wanted to have the seniors make something they could wear for the day. I decided to make shamrock pins.
Supplies
140 lb watercolor paper
Watercolors (green light, green dark)
Watercolor brushes #6 (small)
Water containers
Black permanent markers (medium)
Scissors
Pin backings (Michael's)
Hot Glue or Tacky Glue
Picture of a Shamrock
Instructions
Cut shamrock shapes from the paper big enough for the pin backing 3" x 3"
Introduce the the history of St. Patrick's Day/Significance of the Shamrock
With pencil have them put a dot in the center of each 3" x 3" square of paper
From the dot make 3 heart shapes, filling the paper
Draw a shamrock stem in between two hearts
Trace the shamrock drawing with the permanent marker
Fill the shamrock with light green paint
Cut out the shamrock leaving an 1/8" border
Flip over and put name on back near outer edge of shamrock
Flip back over and apply the darker green paint to just the center of the shamrock brushing outward.
Put a dot of glue in the center where the dot is
Apply a pinch of green glitter
Flip over and apply glue strip to back of shamrock
Adhere pin backing
Let dry
Encourage them to give extra pins to a loved one or friend
